“Awareness and vigilance are the first lines of defence against cybercrime,” said ACP Balappa Mantur, Belagavi City Cyber Police Station, during the inauguration of the Agamya Cyber Tech Conference, held at Naganur Rudraksha Math, Belagavi, on August 29, 2026.
The Agamya Cyber Tech Summit was organised by the STEAM-H Training and Research Foundation, supported by Transdisciplinary Learning Solutions Pvt. Ltd., in association with Agamya Cyber Tech, facilitated by S.G. Balekundri Institute of Technology, and catalysed by the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Cyber Security.
Addressing the gathering, ACP Mantur highlighted the increasing sophistication of cybercriminals, including financial fraud, unauthorised bank withdrawals and the misuse of private photographs and videos on social media. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and report cybercrimes promptly.
Venkatesh Sharma, Security Officer, Delta Exchange Group, emphasised that cybersecurity knowledge is no longer a choice but a necessity for everyone.
Girish Badiger, Programme Officer, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), stressed the importance of developing the right skills to identify and counter emerging cyber threats.
S.P. Hiremath, Secretary, Siddarameshwar Education Institution, urged young people to exercise caution while using the internet, smartphones, computers and digital platforms and to safeguard their personal information.
The conference brought together experts, educators, industry professionals and students to promote cybersecurity awareness, digital literacy and skill development, encouraging responsible digital practices and contributing towards a safer, smarter and more cyber-resilient society.
